Local moves

Ventura Boulevard flats to Fryman Canyon hillsides

Studio City splits along Ventura Boulevard. North of the strip — Colfax Meadows, Laurelwood, Woodbridge Park — is flat, walkable, and full of 1940s ranch homes and newer apartments. South of Ventura the streets climb fast toward Mulholland through Fryman Canyon and the hills above Laurel Canyon, with narrow turns and steep driveways.

The CBS Studio Center (Radford) sits right in the middle of it. Production trucks crowd the side streets near the lot, and Tujunga Village stays busy with foot traffic. We plan loading and routing to keep your move clear of studio-lot congestion.

We're a Pasadena-based crew, and Studio City is a short hop over the hill — we move here multiple times a week. Book with us and you get movers who know your building's elevator rules, which hillside streets need the smaller truck, and how to get in and out fast.

Day to day, our Studio City moves cluster around the Tujunga Village walk streets and the Colfax Meadows family blocks, with steady studio-adjacent jobs near CBS Radford.

What we move

Studio City moves we handle every week

Four common Studio City moves and the prep that goes into each.

Colfax Meadows ranch homes

Single-story 1940s homes with original hardwood, narrow doorways, and detached garages. We pad floors and door frames on the way in and out — character intact, deposit safe.

Ventura Boulevard apartments

Mixed-use buildings with tight street parking, freight elevators, and HOA loading windows. We coordinate with building management before move day so the elevator is held and the curb is clear.

Fryman Canyon hillside houses

Steep driveways, winding streets, and homes built into the slope. We bring the right truck for the road, and our crews handle long carries and stair runs — built into the quote up front.

Moves near CBS Radford

Side streets crowded with production trucks and short-notice schedules. We work fast, route around studio-lot traffic, and keep your move on time even on a busy filming day.

Prepare

10 tips to prepare for your Studio City move

A short checklist that keeps moving day on schedule and prevents the most common surprises.

01

Book early

Weekends and month-end dates fill up fast. Same-day is available, but booking 2-3 weeks ahead gives you the best crew options.

02

Get it in writing

Your booking confirmation should list date, arrival window, crew size, both addresses, and the agreed hourly rate. No surprises later.

03

Pack non-essentials first

Books, decor, closet items, off-season clothes — pack these days ahead. Label every box by room to speed up unloading.

04

Keep valuables with you

Jewelry, cash, passports, laptops, hard drives, medications, and house keys travel in your car — never the truck.

05

Reserve truck parking

Ventura Boulevard, streets near CBS Radford, and dense residential blocks often need a temporary LADOT no-parking permit — request 5-7 business days ahead.

06

Talk to your building manager

Studio City apartments and condos often have specific move-in rules — elevator reservations, time windows, freight elevator pads. Call ahead so move day isn't held up at the front desk.

07

Update your address

USPS mail forwarding, bank, employer, subscriptions, delivery apps, and the DMV — knock these out the week before the move.

08

Clear walkways

Hallways, doorways, stairs, and the path from front door to truck. Quick prep that saves real time on move day.

09

Set utilities up early

Schedule LADWP and SoCalGas to turn on at the new place the day before — so you walk into a working home.

10

Pack a "first night" box

Chargers, toiletries, towels, sheets, snacks, basic tools, and a change of clothes. Keep it with you so you're not unpacking at 11pm.

FAQ

Common questions

Don’t see yours? Call (626) 600-0341.

How much do local movers cost?
Local moves are priced hourly, based on crew size, how much you’re moving, and the distance between addresses. Most 1-bedroom apartments wrap up in 3-4 hours; 2-bedrooms in 4-6; full homes in a day. We give you a flat quote up front based on your specific move, so you know the total before move day.
Do movers pack for you?
Yes. We offer full packing, partial packing (just the fragile or tricky stuff), or no packing at all. We bring all the boxes, tape, paper, and bubble wrap — no need to source your own. We label everything by room and keep a clear inventory so nothing gets lost in transit.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. Your quote includes labor, truck, fuel, wrapping materials, and protection — the whole move. We don’t add surprise charges for stairs, long carries, or extra time we expected. If something changes that affects the price (an added couch, a blocked driveway), we tell you before we do the work, not after.
Do I need a parking permit in Studio City?
Often, yes. Studio City is part of the City of Los Angeles, so reserving curb space for a moving truck means a temporary no-parking permit from LADOT — we tell you when booking if your block needs one and handle the posting. Ventura Boulevard and the streets near CBS Radford get crowded, and hillside streets off Fryman Canyon are tight; we bring smaller trucks when the road calls for it.
Do you move near CBS Studio Center?
Yes. We move in and around the Radford lot and Tujunga Village every week. We plan loading around production schedules and avoid blocking studio truck access where we can. Same-day and short-notice moves near the studios are common for us.
Do you serve Sherman Oaks and North Hollywood too?
Yes. Sherman Oaks, North Hollywood, Valley Village, Toluca Lake, and Universal City are all in our regular Studio City service area at the same flat rates. Moving between these areas and Studio City is the same job for us — short drive, same crew.
