Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern moves performed by California Pro Movers ("we," "us," "our") for our customers ("you"). By booking a move with us, you agree to these Terms. We keep them in plain English — no legalese games.
1. Our services
California Pro Movers provides local moving services within Los Angeles County and Orange County, California. We do not perform long-distance or interstate moves. Our services include loading, transport, unloading, basic disassembly and reassembly of standard furniture, and use of moving blankets, shrink wrap, and dollies as part of the move.
2. Quotes and estimates
Quotes provided by phone, email, or our website are estimates based on the information you give us. Final pricing is determined by actual time worked, mover count, and any additional services. Estimates are not contracts; the contract is formed when we both confirm a booking.
We will tell you up front about anything that could affect your estimate — stairs, long carries, oversized items, packing time, parking restrictions. If conditions on move day differ from what you described, we will discuss any pricing change with you before proceeding.
3. Booking and confirmation
A booking is confirmed when:
- You agree to the quoted hourly rate, crew size, and estimated duration
- You provide a valid pickup address, delivery address, and date
- We confirm crew availability and reply with written or verbal confirmation
We may decline or cancel bookings if our crew or equipment isn't available, if conditions are unsafe, or if the request falls outside our service area. We'll let you know as soon as possible and refund any deposit.
4. Pricing and payment
How we charge
- Hourly rate based on crew size (2, 3, or 4 movers). Current rates are shown on our website and confirmed at booking.
- Minimum charge of 3 hours for any move.
- Additional movers billed at $40/hour per mover added during the move.
- Time is billed from arrival at your pickup location to completion at your delivery location, including drive time between addresses.
What's included at no extra charge
Moving blankets, wardrobe boxes (for use during the move), shrink wrap, tape, packing paper, dollies, basic tools, and standard furniture disassembly and reassembly. We do not charge separate fees for stairs, elevators, fuel, or trip surcharges within our service area.
Payment
Payment is due on completion of the move. We accept cash, credit/debit cards, and Zelle. Card payments may include a small processing fee, disclosed before charging.
5. Cancellation and rescheduling
- 48+ hours notice: no cancellation fee
- 24–48 hours notice: $75 cancellation fee
- Less than 24 hours: $150 cancellation fee
- Same-day cancellation or no-show: 3-hour minimum may apply
Rescheduling within 48 hours is free if a new date can be scheduled within 30 days, subject to crew availability.
6. Customer responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate addresses, inventory size, and access information when booking
- Ensure legal parking near both pickup and delivery (or obtain a permit if required)
- Disconnect appliances (refrigerator, washer, dryer) before the crew arrives, unless arranged otherwise
- Be present (or authorize an adult representative) at both locations
- Pack and secure small items, valuables, and documents in boxes before move day, unless packing service is included
- Carry, hand-deliver, or self-transport irreplaceable items: passports, jewelry, cash, prescriptions, hard drives
- Provide any HOA approvals, gate codes, or elevator reservations your building requires
7. Items we cannot move
For safety and legal reasons, we cannot transport:
- Hazardous materials: gasoline, propane, paint thinners, fireworks, ammunition, batteries, pool chemicals
- Live plants and animals
- Perishable foods (unless freezer-to-freezer within 30 minutes)
- Illegal items of any kind
- Cash, jewelry, and irreplaceable documents — please carry these yourself
If we discover prohibited items in the load, we may refuse to transport them and leave them at the pickup location.
8. Liability and care
We treat your belongings as if they were our own — wrapped, padded, and handled with care. Any limits on our responsibility for loss or damage are explained and agreed with you as part of your booking, before the move begins.
We are not liable for:
- Damage to items not packed by us, where internal packaging caused the damage
- Damage to pressboard or particle-board furniture during normal handling
- Items left in drawers, appliances, or furniture during the move
- Damage caused by acts of God, traffic accidents not at our fault, or building defects
- Loss or damage to cash, jewelry, documents, or other high-value items the customer was advised to carry themselves
9. Damage claims
If something is damaged during your move, please follow these steps:
At time of delivery
- Inspect your items before our crew leaves. Walk through the delivery location and check large furniture and visible items.
- Note any visible damage on the bill of lading or receipt before signing. This is the easiest way to confirm damage happened during the move. Take photos on the spot if possible.
- Damage not noted at delivery is significantly harder to attribute to the move. Items that aren't flagged at delivery — and that the crew didn't observe damaging — may not qualify for a claim.
For hidden damage discovered later
- Notify us as soon as you find it — the sooner you tell us, the easier the claim is to resolve.
- Provide photos of the damage, a description of the item, the original purchase value (if known), and the location where the item was placed during the move.
- Do not discard, repair, or alter the damaged item before we have a chance to review the claim.
How we respond
Email claims to office@californiapromovers.com. We aim to acknowledge claims within 3–5 business days and to resolve most claims quickly — typically within a few weeks.
10. Disputes and governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute that cannot be resolved between us informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
Before filing a claim in court, we ask that you contact us first to try to resolve the issue. Most concerns can be sorted out with a quick conversation.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version always governs moves booked on or after the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We'll keep prior versions available on request.
